Fruit of Psoralea corylifolia L., family Leguminosae.

Characteristics
Fruit flat-reniform, 3-5 mm long. Carpodermis dark-brown, with fine reticular marks. Apex with a protruding style scar, base with fruit stalk scars near the depressed surface; containing two yellow-white interior cotyledons. Acrid in taste, warm in nature, and attributive to kidney and spleen channels.

Indication
1. Invigorate the kidney and strengthen yang: For insufficency of kidney-yang manifested as cold pain of the waist and knees, impotence, emission, enuresis, frequent micturition, cough, dyspnea and shortness of breath, metrorrhagia and sterility.

2. Warm the spleen and kidney to stop diarrhea: For chronic diarrhea and diarrhea before dawn due to deficiency of spleen-yang and kidney-yang. Recently, also used for leukocytopenia, bronchial asthma and metrorrhagia. External application of its alcoholic infusion for corn and leukoplakia vulvae; intramuscular injection and external application of psoraIen for leukoderma and psoriasis.กก

Pharmacological Action
1. Corylifolinin( isobavachalcone) dilates coronary artery significantly.

2. Promoting phagocytosis of macrophage.

3. Exciting the intestinal smooth muscles in vivo or in vitro, and relaxing the uterus of guinea-pigs in vitro. I

Administration
Decoction: 3-9g. Psoralen ampule: 1-2 mg IM qd. External use: Appropriate amount.
