Is Chinese herbal therapy effective in treating spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)? If so, can you recommend some formula? Thanks in advance!

Yes, some herbal medicine formula can be used to effectively treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)? In China there is a medicine series called Amyotrophy Convalescence Pill used to treat this kind of illness. For more information please visit http://www.tcmherbaltherapy.com/herbal-t...trophy.htm

RE: Is Chinese herbal therapy effective in treating spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)?
The description on the mentioned web page is not entirely correct, and the two "case studies" outlined there almost certainly do not represent cases of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA first affects lower limbs, also, it affects left and right limb to the same degree).

Further, the responder suggests to take an "amyotrophy convalescence pill". But there is a fundamental difference between spinal muscular atrophies (neurological disorders) and amyotrophies (muscle disorders).

Regretfully, there is NO proven treatment for spinal muscular atrophy, and no successful therapy of SMA in humans has been credibly reported to-date, whether using herbs or syntetic drugs, and whether by American, European, Japanese or Chinese scientists.

Still, search for effective therapy continues worldwide.
