Do you really think the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) can be cured or improved? It is, you know, the formidable disease and Western medicine feels helpless in facing it. Can you offer some clue as to the possible solution? Many thanks!
Yes, some illness like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), syringomyelia (SM, also called syrinx, hydromyelia, syringohydromyelia), myasthenia gravis(MG), progressive atrophy, facial paralysis, polyneuritis, multiple sclerosis -- excluding those due to genetic factors -- can be effectively treated by the combination treatment consisting of Chinese herbal medicine and Qigong practice. Of course, the precondition should be both of them are well “administrated.”

In TCM theory, they hold illness gains their formation at different levels, much like tree stretching its roots into different depth in earth. Therefore, to effectively treat illness is more like to drill deep into earth to dig out the twisting and intercrossing roots reaching diverse depth. Some Western medicine is well known for its effects in treating certain kind of diseases that are rooted “very deep,” but the side effect, meanwhile, might become beyond control. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative disease of the nervous system, affecting the brain cells (motor neurons). By our knowledge, herbal medicine becomes incapable to do anything to help because such illness has its roots ‘deep planted.” However, Chinese herbal medicine can do other work to help. How, you may ask? There are different means available, say, become more self strong to counter the influence of negative effect, to cut off the nutrition supply to the roots and so on.

ALS is an illness that affect nervous system and in TCM theory, nervous system lives in the environment mostly composed by high-ranking Chi (or we can say it is advanced Qi, not the nutritional Qi or defensive Qi which are located at very superficial levels). So, we can say to treat illness affecting nervous system we have to motivate more advanced Qi to repair or to nourish it (because that is their functionality). Some herbs can be introduced to supplement Qi, quicken the blood circulation, dredge the meridians to well set up a sound environment that lays the foundation. With such sound foundation in place people can practice Qigong to cultivate more advanced Qi (Primeval Qi in Qigong terms) to treat and nourish the impaired nervous system. It is more like a dais and bricks have to be piled up one by one.

Here we list some suggestion in reference to the therapeutic principle in treating illness like ALS by resorting to such alternative therapy:

Herbal medicine that has the effects to supplement Qi, quicken the blood circulation, dredge the meridians
Qigong practice that can well open up the eight extraordinary meridians (Most common Qigong practice cannot have such effect).
Jing and Qi must congeal to give arise to external medicinal substance and such level should be maintained for 15 days to 20 days.

When such preconditions well met formidable illness like ALS, MG, SM can be cured, or improved significantly, at least.
