Introduction
Shaoling Long Fist, also called Tai Zhu
Fist, was heard to be created by Zhao Kuang Yin who founded the Song Dynasty
(here the Tai Zhu means the first emperor in one dynasty). Later the form
routines began to circulate among general people and the monks in Shaoling
Temple. Following Chan theory and its practice, the Shaolin monks began
to add lots of changes to the forms and gradually it revolves to the present
form which is characterized by its homoniuos incorporation of both defence
and assault, the flexible changes with fists techniques and stances, the
practical application in daily life, etc. Though called long Fist in words,
in fact it is of category of short range fighting techniques. The following
popular verse can serve as testimony:
Circulating all around the world is Tai Zhu Long Fist
Praises and amazment accumulates for its intrepidity and valor
As like swallow fleeting just over the water surface the stances seems
to
And hungry tiger preying for the captive when launching the fierce assault
upon the enemy
Edge in, block up, approach, and grapple, all show its fighting force
while defending self
The deadly assault is cherished and ready for launch any time even with
every closing and opening, advanceing and retreating movements.
